Money Saving Kitchen Remodeling Secrets!

I am a Construction/ Renovation contractor, Home Inspector and Real Estate Consultant. I have seen more and more homeowners doing their own home improvements but not always successfully. This can cause frustration and always cost more money than the improvement should cost. Understanding that many homeowners are monetarily bound by the current economy, there can still be reasons that home improvements need to be addressed.

Whether it be an improvement to enhance the property on the market, to increase equity or, commonly, livability issues. If the homeowner fails to plan the project, the project can fail. If the homeowner fails to research the project, the project can fail and will certainly take more time and cost more money. There are many resources for information on home improvements. A Remodeling/ Renovations Contractor is probably the easiest resource to use and also the most expensive. The local Home Improvement Center is a resource with leaflets and associates there to help you. Just remember, we don't know that this salesman has your best interest in mind...he/she works for the company to sell stuff and, chances are, only knows enough to sell.

Then there are the books and e-resources that I consider to be the most effective and economical to a homeowner wishing to do-it-themselves and save money. I have Consulted on home improvement projects for years and found that, if led to the right resources before starting their project, any homeowner can successfully complete it. One tip, the resource should be specific. In other words, if the improvement project is a kitchen, I suggest the resource be about remodeling or renovating a kitchen and not a general remodeling resource. While general remod/reno resources are good to study for construction procedures Contact me on this blog and we'll toss around some ideas on the subject.
